fuel pumps?

#1 Post by 427belair » Wed Mar 18, 2009 8:03 am

Im coming off the mountain to race this year. I think im running out of fuel already based on my ET picking up by .5 and my mph staying the same. My motor is a 555 bbc that makes about 780 hp. Im running a 160gph fuel pump right now into a dead head regulator. What would you recomend? I havent had any issues with the motor going lean but Im going to make a trip out to the coast to race at sea level and dont wont to run it out of fuel. Also what size lines and regulator.
Thanks Jason

I am currently using a Comp140, it has served me well. My next pump will be a Comp250.

I like the Race Pump, the faster you go the more fuel it pumps. My friend also uses one on his 1200HP Chevelle never runs out of fuel.
Gotta plan, spend it before she can, and go as fast as you can.

If you use a A1000 I would use a -10 feed thats what they recomend I think. And if it was me Id use a -8 for the return. You can call Aeromotive and they will tell you what you need to make that pump work if you want to. I run the A2000 on my car.

Im in the process of installing a a1000 pump on my nova. Using a 10 feed to the regulator and a 8 as the return to the cell.

Don't know what your engine consists of but I had a comp 250 pump on my 555 with -8 to the regulator and picked up mph and et going to a magnafuel 500 ghp and -10 to the regulator. Definitly go with as much as you can if the engine is built well.
