I just switched to an electric pump and fan, can't tell you how well it cools on the street, but it's been great at the track. I used the March products alt. kit for electric pumps, man that is one slick set-up. Walt

This is my big block but it might help give you some ideas. I apologize about the huge pic but this is the way I had to rig up my alternator (which I changed to a GM 12si now) when I installed the dedenbear pump. It's a jegs brand alternator mounting bracket that I modified to fit with my home made front motor plates and sbc moroso underdrive pulley that I machined to fit the big block. LOL! It was tedious work but I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

powerhouse sells alternator relocating brackets to go on left or right side(same kit, just reverse side)goes right on the side of harmonic balancer,i love mine but had to give like 80 bucks

also go with the biggest pump and slow it down with a thermostat that has been gutted out

I run mine on the street alot, did Hot Rod Drag Week with no problems, sit in cruise lanes, ect. however I'm in Pa not Tx. My temp went down slightly after the install of the pump & dual electric fans compared to my factory clutch fan & shroud. I don't run a stat, resistor, ect. temps never go above about 170*. I do have a big grille opening (full size '80's GM truck), a big radiator & a dual fan set-up out of a 90's Deville. Hope this helps, Lorne

I talked to CSR about which pump be best for street use, the 35-37 or 55?
They said the 55 will run the water through the radiator to fast to cool it even with a large radiator. The 35-37 is the one they suggest for street use.....

I have been looking into this as well, but I am thinking of going the remote mount setup instead of a block mount so I have easy access to the cam/timing cover. My 2 cents on the 35 vs. the 55 is I would choose the larger. A larger pump would not only increase flow, but it would also raise the pressure in the block and heads, basically from the outlet of the pump to the thermostat/restictor plate housing, which would reduce the chance of steam pockets (hot spots)in the head around the combustion chamber, remember the more you raise the pressure, the more you raise the boiling point and steam doesn't transfer heat! You can use restrictors instead of a thermostat to control the flow and pressure inside of the engine and the rad cap would control the overall system pressure.
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.
