New bests

#1 Post by 427belair » Sun Jun 20, 2010 10:23 pm

I FINALLY got my car to the track after my top end changes from last year :D This was the first race of the year @ this track and there have been major rain/hail/snow storms in the area for the last week so the track surface was less than ideal, not that it ever is consitering its an old runway that hasent been repaved in over 60 years...lol. I was hoping that the air would be good because the ait temps were mild, but the D.A. was over 7200' because it was really humid for this area 60% all weekend. Ok so there are my excuses

74' Nova 3200lbs 555bbc 1190 cfm king demon 4.30 gear 1.8 glide 28x10.5 tire. My previous best at this track was a 9.96 when the air was 5000' or so. It ran high 10 teens to low twenties @ 134 mph in the typical 7000' air.
So I sent my Dart 345's to CFM performance to get ported over the winter. Swapped out my old .724/.714 lift cam for a new .825/.775 lift cam and traded a untouched dart intake for a super victor that my dad and I ported at home.

After a couple runs I ran a 9.81 @ 137.94 mph with a 1.38 60'. There was only one door car that had better 60's than me and he was in a tube frame monza with 32x14's and was running 9.2x's with a 1.35 60'. I normally run in the 1.31-.33 range at this track so there is more in it. Over all Im pretty happy picked up almost 4 tenths and almost 4mph. The only bad part is I am now crossing the traps @ almost 7500 rpm, so no running nitrous in the 1/4 mile this year, unless someone wants to give me a 3.90 pro gear :-P
Also I know not many of you guys are bracket racers, but I made it to the semi's on saterday and lost in the finals to day, broke out :pissed: so it was a great weekend overall. Sorry for the long post.

That's great. With a DA like that and still run faster! Works good.

Keep up the good work.

That's a pretty good improvement.

These best air I have ever seen is right around 5500'. I would love to see what my car would run around sea level.
Also because I was going rounds in the race I didnt get the chance to play with timing or adjust cam timing, adjust launch rpm ect.
Im hoping to run 9.5's after I get my 60's back to normal and a little better air.
