valve lash on a solid roller

#1 Post by roadrunner451 » Sun Jul 11, 2010 1:15 pm

are there any advantages or disadvantages on setting the valve lash tighter or looser then the cam manufacter suggests, for example my cam is 0.20 for exhaust and 0.18 for the intake, if i tighten it up is there a chance it could back fire, wanting to keep the valve open slighty under full throttle say around 7400 rpm,, if there slighty looser then i cant see that happening,,whats your take on this,, ty

I believe this article addresses that. I believe it states that the manufacturer number is a minimum, any smaller is dangerous...
