New motor sounds great in this vid - and this was before I turned the boost up and uncapped the mufflers. Only difference from street trim was slicks instead of street tires.

On my way back from LA Invasion in Fontana I stopped by NHRA to turn my paperwork in and last week my license showed up in the mail. I'm pretty happy with that.

My NHRA SuperComp Nbr is 786.

Once more into the breach...

Reclocking the cam - I was going to bump it just 2 degrees but I talked to Rex and he recommended advancing the cam 4 degrees. So, 4 degrees it is :thumb: :smt003

If the motor doesn't go into orbit this change should really help my 60's - getting them down somewhere in the 1.30's would be awesome... And, this will likely help my ET and MPH as well, but no clue as to how much. Best so far has been 9.75 @ 139 MPH, with a 1.46 60'. My little street car is getting faster :smt003 :smt003 :smt003

Okie doke - After 4 degrees of cam advance I have just over .100 piston to intake valve clearance so I'm in good shape. The raised exhaust ports and valves in these Dart heads make clearance a non-issue on the exhuast side. Even advancing the cam 4 degrees didn't matter - I'm well over .450 clearance for the exhaust valves...

If my new crank hub spacer comes in tomorrow from the folks at Mooneyham I should be able to make noise with this thing on Sunday...

FWIW on my old (really old) 454 advancing the cam 4* moved my peak power about 300 rpm lower. The cars 60 ft, et ,and mph was the same.

Yeah, that's what I'd read - 4 degrees would amount to a 200 to 300 RPM displacement for the power curve. This blower motor makes big HP and TQ early on but doesn't hit full ramp until I've already come off the t-brake. This should get me into the really juicy part of the power band a lot earlier, way down while I'm on the t-brake - it should help a bunch on my launch. We'll see pretty soon

Progress - new crank hub with crank trigger / degree wheel is in place. I won't be installing the actual crank trigger pickup at this point - that'll be aways down the road.

Tomorrow I'll finish hanging everything on the front of the motor along with the upper valve train and stud girdles. Hopefully will make noise by tomorrow night.

It lives and makes rumpy-rump sounds again. And it's *really* crisp on the throttle. Can't wait to get it back to the track to see if it makes a difference. :D

I had intended to hit test-n-tune this weekend but I have some additional work to do up front - gonna see if I can adopt an electric fan for the build and get rid of this big honking 6 blade fan.

As soon as I get the fan situation straightened out I'll bop down to the track to collect some more time slips. Think happy thoughts for me :smt003
