Call your favorite brand of cam grinder. They want you to be happy with their product and will work with you to
get you the right cam for your application.

Whoever did the heads should be able to help you with a cam selection. Its going to be real hard to make 1000 hp N/A. Im not sure but I dont think sb2 heads like nitrous either unless they were specifically designed for it. If you have a pair of Nascar take offs they wont work very well in a drag engine they need to be redone by guys like M&M .

I'm at the point where I'm gonna jus sell these damn things in favor of a sweet set of AFR's that I can get to flow pretty well. I'm starting to find less and less components that work with these heads. Hell I have the car damn near built, the RV packed and washed, the trailer swept and loaded in prep for the season to start but this motor is killin me. I contacted comp cams and they can grind a cam that will work with a 200 shot but I'll lose top end. I want this motor to pull hard to 8500 I'm jus not experienced with the NASCAR heads. Last season I seen a 421 N/A nova with SB2.2's run 8.85 @ 156.54 on a single stage and I was hooked from there

Those heads are going to make more power on accident than any afr head can. There are some sharp people with those heads, like MBE, patersons, RFD, schmidt..ect do some reserch and call them. should make 800+ hp, but getting a 1000 is going to take an all out build and it doesnt sound like thats what your after.

Making 1000 HP from a small block is a tall feat, and to do it with a single carb will be almost impossible. The SB2's in the right hands are good for over 900 on a single carb, however without having a professional head porter work on the combustion chamber you won't want to put a lot of NOS to it. For what you want to do I would look at the SBX casting that CFE makes. You will not get what you want from AFR heads. The only conventional style head that will be close would be a 15˚ degree like this one. I have put together a 447 and a 461 SB2 in the last couple of years, making the HP you want is not something you find to many people capable of.

I will take a look at the sbx heads. I can sell the sb2.2 for almost what I paid for them and I actually held off on gettin the sb2 intake just incase I had a problem with anything else in my combo. 1000hp is the goal, I will settle for the 900 range as long as I'm competetive in my index.

ive been building this motor from scratch since october. Ive got a Dart Eagle Iron 4.125 bore block, I have a buddy with a machine shop that took it out to 4.155, honed it but like me, he's not too familiar with the heads so i didnt have him do the machining till i knew what to do with them. He thinks I should stick with my old dart 18* that i ran on my tired old 406. it ran mid to low 9's on a two stage 250 shot, and a custom ported dart intake and a Comp Cams 12-822-14 which is a 4/7 swap cam with .630"/.630" Lift 300/308 Duration 106* LSA.
