In the past I've ran them on a few builds. Myself I don't really like them. They cause more headaches then they cure. They do have their place. I doubtthat place would be on your build. jmo.

What I have read, they are reusable and they dont give the flex that the other kind support if they are not on a flat surface.

They are intended for combinations that have the heads pulled all the time like nitrous guys who change pistons, etc.

Block must be O-ringed to seal combustion.

Typically the water holes need silicone on both sides of the gaskets to seal, but even then I hear of leakers quite often using copper.

Modern composite gaskets work very well although the MLS gaskets have gotten quite popular.

Most guys are going to the MLS gaskets, like Cometic. We've ran them in a couple motors with 0 issues. I've talked to professional engine builders that used to o-ring blocks for forced induction, but don't have to anymore since switching to Cometics. They're not exactly cheap, though...About $100 a side.

The Cometics are spendy, but worth every penny, since they can be reused. My cousins race NHRA Stock Eliminator, and one season they had the heads off six times working on their combo and reused the same set of head gaskets the entire time.
I've reused a set once with no issues.
