i have a 383 sbc-11:1 comp
dart pro 1 215cc with bowl port and unshrouding
victor jr intake with 1" spacer built in to manifold
4500 convertor
in 3700 lb car-
my question is my current cam is 630 lift with 252/258 duration at .050 on a 106
i have another cam-its 645 lift-268/275 at .050 on a 110
do you guys think that the 2nd cam has too much duration for my combo?
i really dont want to turn the motor much passed 6500 rpms

For the rpm ...yes. and the lsa should be closer to 108.

Your first cam is a better choice.
I built a 385 sbc many years ago that I chose a cam very close to the cam your using and it ran so well I never thought about changing it.
I have a 572 bbc in a 3500 lb Nova that I'm changing the cam in do to being to big. It's my opinion that one should always error on the side of a smaller cam is better.
