he is looking to go 9.99 at 3400lbs. manual trans clutch car.

car is 80 percent drag, 20 percent other(pro touring, standing mile) for now though it is 100% drag and he wants all the power possible out of it.

i mentioned increasing the compression and that is not out as an option
ID like to see that!!!!!!
mines a well built 385 big roller, custom carb at 3105 with driver best is 10.56@128 all motor
I quess he could spray it!!!

ok, so the choices so far are(under 1700 assembled)

chad speier import core, full cnc 210 cc $1620
afr 210 cnc chamber only $1568
trickflow 215 cc as cast $1500

i guess the real question is, what is the best head for under $1700/pair assembled out there, in the 210cc to 220 size range

From gas to alky picked up 5 mph, et also dropped .5 secs

Better clutch and vacuum pump picked up .06 in the 60 ft

Front shocks at that time were cheap C/E 90/10's in a stock front suspension, only front suspension work was Global west del alum bushings

I like the AFR heads, but chad will custom tailor those heads to your application...you might have to spend a few extra dollars, but probably well worth it.

Welcome to the site.

I would say mid 10's are possible, and your drivetrain will love the soft-loc.

Here is a used soft loc link
http://www.umtrnorth.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6651

I bought my soft loc used and then had Tim Hyatt rebuild it, i also got a good deal on a new ALum. F/W from him. Also i have seen some great deals on New mcleod alum f/w's on racing junk.

I would also recommend a 10.5" versus a 11", its very hard to get the bellhousing off with a 11" clutch.

Anyone got any old 867 Pontiac heads they are willing to part with. I think these would be the ultimate heads for my combo and car. :bling:

Those are descent heads, but require some special parts to use them. Offset rocker on intake, 60/40 spacing, and a special stud girdle.

But you might be able to find some like that with all the parts on racingjunk?

There are much better heads out there today.
