carb mod

#1 Post by joe69Z » Fri Jun 15, 2012 6:50 pm

I'm just milled off chock horn on a 650 cfm double pumper, Will I need to change jets or any thing else to make carb still perform like it was, Just trying to get a little more airflow? Or have I just messed up! Pro's and con's about this modification?

I know thats something that a lot of folks have done in the past for the same reason. I don't think you'll have an issue, other than having lost the ability to choke it at start up. Of course, all of the 4150 HP carbs run without chokes, etc.

I did it to mine before I had my carb converted to E85. You gain 30 cfm, give or take. You might have to go one jet richer, but it really depends on what your car likes.

Wow, really ? Does the choke horn cause that much restriction in inlet air flow ? I never suspected that. Thats a good thing to learn.
