I'll let this one go for the guys with a bigger, big block then mine.
Mine is only a 408 and my heads will probably be a little smaller then what you might need.
I was looking at heads made by AFR and Edelbrock.

yea I was looking at some AFR 325cc r-port magnum for mine or brodix 312cc r-port bb-2 plus race rites, has anybody had any experience with these on 468 drag engine? my cast irons are gm hi-perf 325 r-port 118 combustion chamber.

Hey there, welcome to the mix !!!!

I spent a lot of time researching aluminum heads for my little big block (427) and settled on a set of Dart 310's. Mine have been shaved a touch to reduce the chambers and were port matched to the intakes, but are otherwise virgin. I migrated from a set of 990's with this blower build and the move to these Darts was a huge difference all across the board. Motor runs cooler, makes a lot more power/torque and I have no complaints with the heads.

As with any aftermarket part, you can find some number of folks who don't like Dart but I don't know of any general quality issues with Dart.

What sort of application are you looking at ? What kind of HP are you looking for, and what intake/fuel setup do you use ?

I think you will do much better with a head in the 305 to 310 range. Look at the possibilities from dart, afr and Brodix. Pay attention to the raised height of the exhaust ports.

As cast the Dart Pro 1 310 would be about as good as any. And quality castings.

How fast is it now? And how much are you looking to gain? The afr 305 is supposed to be very nice as well. But I know a few guys who had good results with the bridix rr. Dad got a set of them in an oval port last year. And will be looking for 700 hp or better with a pump gas 496 from them.

The last time I ran the car the best E.T was 10.46 but that was with a diff combo all around the only thing that was the same we're the heads, so this new top end I got I have not ran or put down on the track, just looking like always to gain more power try something diff and loose a little weight cause those cast irons are heavy but they do work good.

Mark is a sharp dude and I'd trust his advice. One more avenue you might want to try is to call a head specialist. My suggestion would be Mike Stark of CFM or Chad Speier of Speier Racing Heads. Both grass roots guys willing to offer advice. Tell them your goals and your budget.
