New Short Block Options

#1 Post by wikd69 » Tue May 12, 2015 1:14 am

Hi boys, been awhile :)

If you were going to buy a pre-built short block, who would you go to ?

I'm looking for something based on a low-deck Dart Big-M, Callies Dragonslayer, in either 509 or 540 cu in.

I know there are lots of builders out there, but without having to spend a gzillion dollars who would be a good choice to buy a pre-built short block ?

Are you looking at one from a big name engine shop? Surely your local builder can do as food add anyone else. Whenever I upgrade, I'm just using a local guy.

My first thought was to pick up the block, crank, pistons, rods, etc., and then either build it myself or have a local shop assemble it.

My next thought was to shop for a better overall price by buying something pre-built. So that's where I'm at.

I don't really care about the big name builder thing - I just want quality, hopefully without going completely broke to get it.

Scott Shafiroff Racing engines. If I was getting a short block I would get it done there because its local to me. There is a guy out in California, Mike Lewis racing engines. He seems to have a good reputation.
