spark plug recommendations?

#1 Post by 1320quick » Thu Apr 12, 2007 4:32 pm

Hey guys, Looking for your thoughts on spark plugs for my combo. I've got a 540ci bbc, 14.1 compression ratio, dart pro1 345 heads. This was a Shafiroff crate motor and when I bought it and it had Autolite AR3932 spark plugs so I've always just used them as they seamed to work fine for the small plate system I was using. I'm changing to a fogger this year and I'm thinking about trying NGK plugs as I've hear they might be easier to read (and cheaper). I know the AR3932 crosses to a R5671A-10 plug. I'm going to start with a 250hp shot and work my way up to 350hp. I've had a couple of local guys tell me they think I'm using too cold of a plug and I should be using a R5671A-9 or maybe even a -8. Thoughts???

A -9 would probably work pretty good, might be just a bit cold for the 250 shot but they'll work ok. I ran 9's in mine up to a 400 shot

John, thanks for you response. I'll give the -9's a shot and see what happens. Maybe if the weather clears up, I'll get a chance to do some T & T tomorrow.
