150 shot, good results

#1 Post by Ron69SS » Thu May 29, 2008 1:10 am

We have been struggling here in the North West with rain. Very few opportunities to race.
Finally got a good day, so I upped the HP from 100 to 150. I was jonesing.....
Around 65 degrees, so despite the battery killing bottle blanket, I gave it a shot.
Bottle had 3 passes, and I couldn't get it past 850 PSI. Fuel was flowed at 6.5 psi. Edel rpm plate system. Car runs about 10.10 NA, street driven. I drive it to and from.
It's a throttle switch system, haven't been able to install the Cometics progressive controller yet.
NA first pass was a 10.13 @ 131....off in mph....E10 fuel? Never had to run that before.
Rolled into it slow the second pass on the bottle, 9.73 @ 143. 1.62 60 ft.
Rolled into it quicker the next pass, 9.49 @ 142.5.......1.48 60 ft.
Hit it off the line, expected it to spin.......yarded the tires 3 feet...for a long ways....holy sheet.....and I somehow managed to shift it 1-3. I guess it startled me, have never seen that much air.
9.41 @ 142.5 with a 5.99 @116 1/8 and a 1.32 60ft. 9" radial slicks, Cal tracs. I believe I messed up a 9.30 pass. At 6 passes, the bottle was dead.

Not sure if we will get that traction again, but looking forward to making a clean pass next time out. I'm at 7000 at the finish line....the converter don't like the spray. Good thing I put 3.73's in the car.

I'm a nitrous newbie.....but I like it!

BTW.... 92 octane pump gas, extended tip plugs. No issues, all looked good after 3 passes.

June 7th next race......hope the track is good. Gotta beat those turbo cars.....

But $4.30 a gal for premium? Shoot, race gas cost that 3 years ago. Time to buy a drum.

I don't post here much, but have learned quite alot. Thanks.

Ron
