Re: best sb chevy nitros engine
He wants to know what the best cubic inch combo is for nitrous in a sbc. Daniel if it was me I wouldnt build a sbc nitrous motor that was ultra serious unless I had that tall deck dart iron eagle block. The deck is to short on anything stock block to get the cubic inches and still be able to have a good ringpack and piston made for all the nitrous. I say this and mine is a stock block 355 with a fogger and a plate but its just my budget motor im going to buy the iron eagle block soon and keep my car a smallblock. I think i can get away with it for a while because the stroke is short and the pin is down on the piston away from the ringland. Theres no room in a short deck block really to get a good nitrous piston in there with a 6" or longer rod, Especialy when you get up into the longer strokes. I dont think I would even use a stock block for a nitrous motor on a 400 based motor for the same reasons the long strokes like 4" and longer just dont make for a durable nitrous motor because of the ringpack. This is my opinion, Sam
Re: best sb chevy nitros engine
so evan using a 9.8 dart block sb is still asking 4 trouble doen the road or u saying getting the right rod piston combo i was thinking of using my top end and getting a dart block short block low compression so doen the road convert it to turbo maybe just want something different thats also in my little budget $$

Re: best sb chevy nitros engine
Well the iron eagle block is a 9.325 deck and stock is 9.025 so im not sure what the 9.8 is is a sbc. But I think the nitrous is the only thing that is going to give you problems on the short deck bigger cube sbc's. I think theres a thread over on yellowbullet somewhere about this topic. What cubic inch were you wanting to upgrade to? Sam
Re: best sb chevy nitros engine
try and keep standard bore on dart block just not sure on stroke and rod u going to make the race im sitten this one out ill help u and robert out if u guys r running

A iron eagle block with 3.875" stroke and 4.155" bore, figure your compression height with a 6" rod. And have your pistons custom made for your compression height. And don't be afraid to leave .015"-.020" on the deck if your going to spray the balls off of it. You want have to pull as much timing because the quench area will not be as tight. You will loose a little compression but you'll make up for it with ignition timing. A N/A motor and a N2O motor like a little bit different quench areas. However with the BIG, BIG motors this is more of an issue. BTW, I was referring to 23 deg. stuff with these specs, and probably a set of Dart 230 heads with a Dart intake. Send it to Cold Fusion and have it fitted for a fogger. They will turn it around in about 2-3 days. Put you a plate shot on it and 2nd stage fogger. Have you a good custom ground nitrous cam fixed up maybe a 4/7 swap and tell em you want to spray atleast 400 on it. Make sure you have a converter company tailor you a converter and you're gonna ride.

2-3 days is what they told me. That's their part. Not including shipping. I didn't send mine, just not in the budjet. Maybe next year.

Re: best sb chevy nitros engine
How much does it cost to buy a fogger from them and have them plumb and flow it?

Here is the link. As I mentioned I was thinking of using the fogger for the 2nd stage and a plate for the initial hit. So the plumbing and flowing part for the fogger would be a single stage as far as their pricing goes.
