Progressive N2O Controllers

Just wondering why people prefer the Edelbrock progressive controller over the NOS 15835B Progressive Nitrous Controller? What's wrong with the NOS controller? I have a friend who has a NOS and he never got it to work right. So he now has an Edelbrock controller and it works great. But just wondering if maybe he had something wired up wrong. He's got it for sale half price.

What are your opinions of the NOS controller?

I run the NOS 15834 controler with no problems.
I took my street car a 66 Mustang Fastback to MOKAN to a Drag Radial race . It was the first time on 275-60-15 drag radials.

1st pass 1.75 -60- @6.75
1.55 ----@ 6.50
1.41 ----@6.06

It dropped 3/4 second with no changes but the NOS controler.

Thanks! I was wondering how people liked the NOS piece. I hear allot of good about the Edelbrock controller but not much about the other. Maybe I'll give it a shot and when I change cams and spray it a little more I'll probably need to ramp it in.

Just my .02 cents. I know alot of people run the progressive setup and have excellent luck with it, but if it was me, I would put that money towards a digital 7 box and not use a progressive at all. Then you can tune the launch with the timing instead of risking hanging a selenoid and hurting the engine. Most nitrous selenoids are not designed to be pulsed.

In my opinion you have far more control of the hit using a progressive than using the MSD box to pull timing. I'm using the Gear retard curve on mine with the 1st stage non-progressive and it's harder to kill power with timing than it is when using a progressive from what I've found. Next year I'm going to be using two progressives, one on each stage.

However my solenoids were specifically designed to be pulsed, they don't have the issues the normal peter paul, etc. solenoids have like tearing the seats up, etc.

hey john
who makes the solenoids that are made for the pulsing i was thinking about using a progressive nos but was worried about the solenoids and do you have any input on which control model you preferr
thank you

The one's I'm using are called Pulsoids from Highpower - http://www.noswizard.com in England. With the current exchange rate they are expensive now. But they are very reliable and the only Electric solenoid made that is not based on an industrial solenoid I'm using their Maximiser controller, this winter I'm adding their Max Extreme controller. I'd like to try out their new Revo system, which is a whole new concept. It's a electrically controlled variable orifice valve.

Hey guys i'm just wiring in a W.O.N, Max extreame in conjuction with their spider plate on my car. It also has one set of high flow pulsing solenoids that can flow 350hp. It's pretty high tech, my set up includes both Nitrous and fuel pressure transducers to make sure everythings in check. Here's a picture of the plate, this ones for a Dominator ( they sent me the wrong one) my new one's going to look a bit different as i'm running a Pro Systems Nitrous ProV
4150. You can see the MAX controller in the top left of the photo.
