Looks like I'm going to be limited to a 55 jet this coming year. Do you guys think there is any measureable power difference to be gained from going away from my NOS big shot plate?

Yes, a rule change. Non-standard heads are limited to a 55 jet. Too bad my heads aren't really any better than a good 23 degree head.

Are you limited to a plate only? I suppose if you're limited at the jet the combination that has the least restriction after the jet would be best. Remember how I had my big shot plate plumbed up?

Need to put a lot of thought into the flow path from the bottle to the spray bar and minimize any restrictions.

Yeah, I remember how you had that Big Shot plumbed. For a while, I was thinking of going the other direction, but with only a 55, that's not going to be the solution. Might have to try your approach so that it gets out of the hole pretty well.

I'm trying to work out of a deal on a Wilson plate, so I might try that too.

No foggers. A 55 jet in a fogger would be nice!

Here is some nitrous for thought,
I have been running the Zex system. It works good in a street/drag type set up. In the class I'm in we had a rule change for next year too. For the size motor I have I can only run a 73 size jet. The zex system has to have a jet that is larger to equal other systems because of the plat design. So the zex system is gone.

The research that I did did help me pic a good but not over the top result. I am running the
NX Pro-Power (100-500)hp system. The people at NX told me that this system makes more hp at that pill level than the other systems thay sell (plate design). Approx. 40 hp more. And at that pill level it will make almost a 100 hp more then the Zex system.

Since I'm limited to a single plat and jet size I saw no point in looking for the most elaborate and expensive system just one that works.

NX set me up with the pro power system with a 15 lbs bottle and the controler for a great price. I am looking forward to using it soon.

Just rambling, but can you mount the nitrous solenoid closer to the plate or directly to the plate and the fuel solenoid further away and make it hit harder from the hole?

Or do I have that backwards?

Yes you can move the nitrous solenoid closer to get it to hit hadrer. It can make a Differance.

That's what I was talking about. The big shot plate I've been using in the past had both solenoids mounted directly to the plate with no lines at all on them.

What's funny is the line length really didn't affect the hit timing all that much. I found it responded 61 rpm quicker at the .1 second mark with no lines vs about 6 inch of line launching at the same RPM.

The NX plate has worked very well for me. The stage 6 has shown great gains with small pills, but requires two; I didn't work with them enough to know if it can be adapted to a single jet set-up. On another note, camshaft and manifold play a big role in limited nitrous applications. The key is how much restriction or phase change is ahead of the jet? That will affect how much quality liquid nitrous gets through.
