what is a good u-joint to use for drag racing. i realize this sounds silly, but that seems to be a weak link in the drive train.

I broke a 1310 u-joint about a year and a half ago. When it did it tore up everything. Definately go with the 1350 and upgrade your yokes to billet.

I've been using SPicer solid 1310's since my car ran low 12's :thumb: still using stock driveshaft too, been many of sub 1.4x 60ft's behind my 505. <knock on wood>

Bob did you happen to see what happened to Brian Sutton's car when his stock driveshaft with the small ujoints came up through the bottom of his car at MoKan? Might want to think about upgrading sometime in the future...

Definately not pretty when this happens. I was messing around on the street when it happened to me. Broke the driveshaft in half. Twisted the splines on the transmission yoke. Tore the exhaust from under the car. Broke ring gear into about 100 pieces. Locked the posi up in it and tore the driveshaft loop out of the car. Luckily it didn't come up through the floorboard when it let go, and the car was only running about 11.90 at the time. Speaking from experience on this one, definately go with the 1350 u joints on this one. If an 11.90 car can do this so can a car running a lot quicker. Just my $0.02.

Yeah...I was there that day John. I cant remember if he was spraying that day or not?? I'd like to get an aluminum driveshaft in the future, been wanting a vacuum pump too. I did get a pair of front springs from your new sponsor "Santhuff" ;)

Yes he was, it was a MAKO race. Just something to think about upgrading Bob...

Santhuff's not currently a sponsor of Dragstuff, I was just doing some testing for them. Santhuff is a client of mine.

one of the biggest things that is hard on all parts behind the crank back to the back tires is vehicle weight
