Starting on 24 Volts

#1 Post by vegaracer » Sun May 17, 2009 1:18 pm

Has anyone wired there car to start on 24 volts while still providing 12 volts for the water pump, fan, and other stuff? Here's how I was thinking of doing it.

I have wired several Nostalgia Funny cars on the 24 systems...basically as you show it using the big 24V relay designed to do this. You will still need to run it through the kill switch so EVERYTHING including the 12V stuff is dead when off.

Good to hear that what I had should work. But I came up with this, using a Delco 3173M series parallel switch. This way I can still charge the car using one 12 volt battery charger.
