Tranny brake

#1 Post by demented » Sun Oct 28, 2007 8:13 pm

Currently I have a th400 that I foot brake. I also have a 5600 stall convertor behind a 622 injected bbc with a 400 hp shot of nitrous all in at launch. I know a tranny brake will make my car more consistant, but what esle can it do for me? What are some of the benefits of having one.

That ought to be an interesting launch, what's it in? Usually when someone says' they're gonna try something like that they ask you to hold there beer too! hehe

The brake should help with reaction time, it will also affect how the car is loading the chassis some and should hit the tire harder.

Oh yes that would be a brutal launch in a drag car on asphalt. However I should have mentioned the slip factor of mud. I mud race and this car as 2780 lbs. and does not have an problems breaking axles. No I was wondering really if there was any advatage to having a brake. well believe it or not even though we are talking mud they still plant the tires pretty hard.

They do help with reaction time, and after you get use to it, its easier to launch, for at full throttel just slide the thumb off the button and your gone.
Hope you have some BIG paddels that wont break off.

Ah - I've seen this beast on Dave's board. You'll have to try the brake and see how it likes it chassis wise. It should get you a faster reaction time.

Even though we are talking mud, do you think that it will make a difference or would I be just wasting time and money?

That's anyone's guess there... If it don't work I'm sure it won't be the first time on the wasting time and money thing lol
