On the inside of the case at the rear there are bumps that hold the snap ring in place between 1st and 2nd gear. Well I sheared them off. Is this due to the added power and or Trans brake or an improper trans build?

thats the center support the snap ring is steped on one side if installed wrong it will pop out also this takes A BIG hit when you go to second as this carrier holds the sprag.. dooing nasty burn outs from low to second can kill this. all the forward drum stuff has to stop and go the other direction when you shift...your trans guy can tell if it was worn when it was freshend up...
make a plan and stick to it !!

I think they make a heavier duty snap ring for that also. I just put a new case in the car last year from it doing the same thing.

You wanna avoid the 1-2 shift during a burnout. Try starting your burnout in 3rd if you've got enough motor. If not, start in 2nd then quickly go into 3rd. Roll out of the box on the throttle until the tires bite.

I should of tested the line pressure prior to the rebuild.
The ______ who built it put in a larger spring with washers behind it? This had to make the pressure through the roof, no wonder it sheared?
