Strange Master cylinder

Strange Master cylinder
I have a Strange Master cylinder that I am trying to install on my 79 Camaro. Now Strange's master cylinder is a Mopar style master cylinder and comes with a threaded rod to bolt to the pedal, But the chevy's dont use that type of mounting so I am wondering what you guys are doing to fix this. I am sure that I can make something to work but I just figured if there was a adapter kit or something then I would get it. I found a deal adapter kit that summit sells but I am not sure that it would work, but it does come with the ends that would mount up to my chevy pedal but not sure what the threads are on this kit. I have listed the links of my Strange one and the kit that I found on summit so that you can get a better visual of what I am talking about. I was looking at the Wilwood master cylinder it it seems to come with a similar rod that the strange comes with. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Does your Camaro still have the factory adjustable brake rod connected to the pedal? Thats all you will need. Just be sure you check/adjust the length of it so it will not bottom out. You won't need the rod that came with the Strange unit

I am not sure if mine is factory or not. It had power brakes on it from the factory and the guy who had it before me switched it to manual brakes. My rod is not adjustable, instead of having threads on the side that goes on the pedal it has a flat part on it with a hole(like in that kit from summit I posted) in it so that it slide over a little stud and then a safety clip goes on it to keep it from coming off.

I cut the stud off and welded a bolt to the pedal and used a 5/16" heim end that screws onto the rod (should be 5/16-24) I also had to move the mounting position up to get the correct pedal ratio which should be around 6.5:1, most power brake cars are around 4:1 or less. This lower ratio means you have to press a lot harder to get the same pressure as the higher ratio. Also a larger bore master will have less pressure than a smaller one which may give you a spongy pedal. Were using 7/8" bore on just about all are cars with disc/drum or even 4 whell disc.

buy the 760125 and the local orileys has a reman chrysler master cyl for a mini van it has a 1 inch bore the 7/8 will give about 900psi and the 1 inch will give 750-800 but the larger one will give a much better feel. and will have less travel regardless of the rod ratio this is important with the smaller one, just fought this fight last week with a customers car complained about his crappy soft pedal for a year! 28.00 $ reman master cyl tossed the strange in the trash 4 piston 4 wheel disc big diff reman comes without a resevor though.
make a plan and stick to it !!
Is that the alum body master or the steel body ?sunsation540 wrote:buy the 760125 and the local orileys has a reman chrysler master cyl for a mini van it has a 1 inch bore the 7/8 will give about 900psi and the 1 inch will give 750-800 but the larger one will give a much better feel. and will have less travel regardless of the rod ratio this is important with the smaller one, just fought this fight last week with a customers car complained about his crappy soft pedal for a year! 28.00 $ reman master cyl tossed the strange in the trash 4 piston 4 wheel disc big diff reman comes without a resevor though.

What do you do about the tank ? buy a new one or get one from the junk yard ? We had a problem and got a castiron one from the parts store before, i will write down the model of the car, and maybe check a pick a part to get a few tankssunsation540 wrote:alum call my parts guy brian 405 799 8370 tell him you want the same mastercyl that MDRC and Moore Kar Kare buys.. he will give you the number you will have to drill out the mounting holes as well narrow..
Im not using the Strange master its on the shelf the bore is too big (1-1/8") I am using the Chrysler mini van master it has a .944 bore, mine came with a resovoir bought it from Napa about $40 Summit sells one made by Coni-Seal I think I have the part# somewhere. Is 750-800 psi enough? The tech guys at Wilwood told me they like to see around 900-1000 psi
