I HAVE A 71 NOVA FOOTBRAKE BRACKET CAR THAT JUST REPLACED A BASICALLY STOCK 350 ENGINE WITH A 385 INCH THAT NEEDS TO TURN 7300 RPMS.I RUN A GLIDE WITH A 1.76.I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TRACK FRIDAY AND THE MOTOR TURNED 6000 AT THE TRAPS.IT HAS A 4.88 GEAR NOW WITH 30X10 GOODYEARS.CAR RAN 6.85 AT 100.5 MPH.ANY SUGGESTIONS ON A GEAR?IM THINKING A 5.57 MIGHT BE THE RIGHT GEAR BUT I ONLY WANT TO SPEND THE 350.00 ONCE.THESE CALCULATORS ONLINE ARE KINDA CONFUSING.THANKS TIM

To turn 7300 rpm, at 100 mph, using a 30 inch tire, you're going to need to run a 6.35 rear gear.

A 5.57 will let you run 6400 rpm through the traps.

I don't know how accurate these numbers are but here's where they came from:

moeraces, ive seen your truck run at either n.e dragway or outerbanks or both!i run at n.e.the stall is an 8 inch tci stalls about 4600.i called richmond gear they recommended a 4.88 for 1/4 mile i told him i only run 1/8 they recommended 15% more gear so it would be a 5.57.
