Nova Front Tires ???

#1 Post by 71 Nova » Thu May 29, 2008 11:21 am

I was looking at the date code on my Nova’s front tires and noticed that they were manufactured in 2001! I’m not real thrilled at the idea of going 120 MPH on 7 year old tires, so they’re gonna get replaced before I go racing again. I was looking into some skinnies for the front, and found out there are 24”, 25”, 26” dia. and on and on… HELP!!! What size tires are you guys using on your Novas? Any recommendations? Thx!

I have 24's......now.....

But according to John @ calvert racing, he reccomends 28's if your using caltracs....... He advised me to do this swap before any other adjustments...

It will interesting to see the replys to this thread

27.5x4.5x15 mickey t's here. I have a tendancy to be quick on the tree, so they have helped me slow down my reation time some, plus they make the car sit a little more level which probably helps some weight transfer. Besides, I like the look of both the front and rear tires being about the same height.

I've always run 165 radials ,the ones rated for 44psi . I tried 26'' sportsmans once, but didn't like the lack of road feel.

I run 26'' mt's . I had a pair that were 10 years old . Worked good , just decided to change .
Keep in mind the smaller the tire will make your reaction much faster . The larger tire will slow your reaction time down ! tree: tree:

Well the smaller tire theory with faster reaction time, explains to me why I red light so much...........
Thanks, I learn something new every day.

Thanks guys. I decided on using the 26's cause I could use some improvement in my reaction time. I ordered MT Sportsman 26" dia tires on Weld Racing Drag Lite rims.
