Re: Rear End
Do yourself a favor and go with Moser. I had the gears replaced in mine and the guy said he's never seen a 12 bolt that was so beefy inside.BBC505 wrote:I'm looking for a 12bolt for my 74 Nova, Are there other cars that ran the 12bolt that will fit my Nova?

Yes it is a leafspring car.
Re: Rear End
1967-1969 Camaro
1968-1971 nova
They can be very expensive. Some times you can find chevelle housings turned into camaro rears and will be only 1" wider which is really no big deal and neither are the upper control arm ears. So really keep you options open.
Yes Moser is a great housing and we would all love to have them at 2000.00 a rear. But there are still deals out there just have to be patients and look for them.
Moser really is not out of reach if your intending on buying an original camaro housing cause they will cost almost the same money these days.
We have a buy in with Moser and can make you one up also for a bit cheaper with the same housing. Or I can see what I have on the racks that we can make for you. Been very busy with the regular builds there was NO need to be pushing Camaro rears. Jim

Re: Rear End
You should build a ford 9" to fit your car. To build one is cheaper and stronger. I broke two 12 bolts and 8.5" 10 bolt on the street. Now I have a 9" with 35 splined axels, cm spool, back brace, inboard mounted shock, aluminum case, disc brakes and I only have about $1600.00 in it.
Think about it. Much better rear end for the price.

Re: Rear End
Or you could try a 8.8 out of a mustang...thats what i have been using for the last 10 years in my camaro. I think it is 1 inch narrower than camaro. I put a spool, 33 spline axles and a good cover on it and has been pretty good even with a stick car without a adjustable clutch.
The reason i went with the 8.8 versus a 12 bolt was the cost(300.00 came with 4.30 gears)....other than that all internal dimensions are nearly identical to 12 bolt.

Re: Rear End
Yep, that is all we do. We make s-10 drag race /street strip rears out of them and we use 8.8 Ford rears too...plus we make 8.8 and 8.5 and 12 bolt g-body custom rears also.
We try to provide the rears with recycled GM rear diff parts to provide a strong diff BUT way under a moser, currie, strange, price. Remember these rears are for the inbetween stage of your hopped up ride. they will run to 10.90 easy but once you get to this point with your RACE/PRO street car...You should start spending really money. I look at it that a car that does 10.90 on the motor will take at least 5000.00 grand in parts so spending half on that for a rear should be required which is NOW in the Moser Currie strange price range.
Most guy/girls we deal with are pumping gobs of NOS in there street car and need the extra rear to hold that punch that they will do once in a while. So our rears are priced in the 1000.00 to 1500.00 range usually...Kind of all depends on the build.
Pick a Parts yards are great...about 70.00 after taxes... BUT that does take some time to remove parts and we could be building instead. so it all depends on the month and build load we have. Jim
Take care, jim
