Transmission Oil

#1 Post by Frantic Andy » Thu Jun 11, 2009 12:33 am

I have been advised to use a 'CAT' TDTO (Transmission Drive Train Oil) 30 Weight Oil in my powerglide to 'tighten up' the convertor in our race car. Has anyone had any experience of using this type of oil.

I've used John Deere Hyguard before, seemed to work ok. I didn't noticed much if any difference in stall speed. I think it was 20w and I was running Castrol Type F before that. I'm currently using Amsoil Compressor Oil 20w and that's working great so far.

my trans builder told me to put castrol type f in my th-400...i questioned him he said their is two properties oils offer,i cant remember them, but for my application he said its got better "stuff" in one of the two catagories in it over dextron.im in a smaller community surounded by the larger ones and my motor builder told me about him.no probs yet,but not a lot of time on it.motor made 854 hp on chassis dyno a month ago runnin rich. hopefully works for long time...

any other thoughts???
