Question about front tire size.
I currently run a 195R15 front tire, which I think is like 26". I have always heard of how taller tires affect reaction time, but I was wondering will it affect ET at all? I guess in theory it will take longer to break the beam to start the clock, so it is kind of like shallow staging? Just wondering? Sometimes these crazy ideas come in my head and I have to ask for my own sanity.

Re: Question about front tire size.
I run a 24" tire on my cars. I like the faster reaction time. With out the delay box I would go red every time so the shorter tire allows my to use a delay box to put time in it to get closer to the light. I run a K&R Pro Cube single timer box. Have had it for years.

I'm a footbrake car only. I was just wondering what else the taller tire may affect. It may not affect anything I was just thinking logically it should increase reaction time and decrease et, but I don't know if I am right or not. I like making my brain work some you know.

Re: Question about front tire size.
I ran on a foot brake for years and used a short tire then to. I had to stage at the back of the box just to keep from red lighting. I don't think it makes a difference anywhere else down track.

It may make I tiny sliver of difference for the good. A larger tire will take longer to, how do you say "let go" or roll out of the beam and start the clock. So, imo you would get a tinsy tiny jump and lower your et a tinsy tiny bit.

Cutting better lights is more important than the .001 or .002 you get at the other end. Even in heads up race I've seen slower cars win because of faster lights.spaz109 wrote:It may make I tiny sliver of difference for the good. Just my two cents.

Hey now, I agree 100%. I was just answering the question. I have a K&R box as well - good stuff.supernova wrote:Cutting better lights is more important than the .001 or .002 you get at the other end. Re: Question about front tire size.
I love my K&R box. I want a new one mine's 6 or so years old and it only has 1 timer. I would like to have the 3 timer box. Now I use mine in a heads up class so I don't use all the functions but more timer would be good.

Well sir, mine is the gold one. So I have no timers. So, If you want to sell that one at some point get a hold of me.

Re: Question about front tire size.
I had to put a taller tire on my car to keep me from redlighting. I footbrake, running a 29" tall front tire. If it was worth anything in e.t. I couldnt tell you what it was. I run 30psi air in them.
