My trans went out Friday night circa the 330 mark. Made no noises at all, just felt like someone put it in neutral for me. I'm thinking pump...but wouldn't I hear something break? I'm assuming the best route is to find a pressure gauge and go from there. I have no forward gears or reverse. The valve body wasn't right when it was new...I had no reverse then. Could this be valvebody related?

Check the fluid and go from there. Some Trannys need to have the t-brake on to go into reverse.

It just has a sportsman brake not a pro. My friend thinks the planetaries are toast.

did you drop the pan ? It'd be interesting to see if you have any spare parts laying there...

Not yet, last time I tried to get the pan off I was beating on it with a dead blow to no avial. Then I figured out the leak I was chasing was the dipstick seal and put the bolts back in the pan and was on my way. So I'm not looking forward to another round. How hard can you pry on a cast aluminum pan???

Hmmm, dunno. I've learned to double-check I have all the pan bolts out before I break another pan. Er, I mean, before I try to remove the pan. LOL

Well there's some gold dust/flake type stuff in the pan...there was one tiny little piece of metal in there. Almost like a third of a thread of a 3/8 bolt? I ran a magnet through the drain pan of fluid and hardly anything stuck to the magnet. Will there be a bunch of metal inside the case? I would think it would get down to the pan if there was.

Was that a stock shaft or aftermarket one?
