9" Housing Ends

#1 Post by 5448 » Tue Oct 12, 2010 1:06 pm

Well, I've started the winter upgrades a bit early this year. Planning on mini tubbing my '71 Nova and putting a 9" under it. I want to order a brake kit to get the correct hat thickness for measuring housing width.
Before I order brakes, is there a preference between the Big Ford and Big Ford-new style housing ends? I plan to run a 35 spline axle.
Thanks for the input.

Eric

I went with the heavy Pontiac / Olds housing ends. Full circle, thick flange.

It looks like the only difference is the hole diameter. 3/8" late, down from the 1/2" from the early big ford ends.

I'm using the big ford ends on mine and also a drum kit from Strange.

If you want to use a drum kit, Strange sells them for either the big ford or new, big ford.

It's a very nice kit for under $400.

Most of the vendors can supply them. Mark Williams, Moser, Art Morrison, etc.
