I am confused these tires have the same specs but are sized differntly? Which one would be a better choice.
MT # 3055 sidewall width 11.7 thread width 10 overall diamater 28.1
Hossier # 18150 section width 11.7 thread width 10 overall diamater 28
The mt are 28 x 10.5 and the hoosier are 28 x 10 how is the mt wider bothed are speced for 10 inch rims but i am running a 8 inch rim and no tubes.
Should i be looking at a soft compound tire?
Car has a 650 hp sbc in a 3200# car.

Don't have an answer to your tire question but I wanted to tell you that when your running a 10 inch tire they will work a lot better on a 10 inch or 12 inch rim. I have same HP and weight and have run 28x10 and 28x10.5 on an 8 inch rim, then 28x10 on 9 inch rim with a small improvement, then I went with a 29x10 on the 9 inch wheel with another small improvement, then I went to my current set up which is a 30x9 on a ten inch wheel with a major improvement. Run the rim size the same as tread width or wider and you will be using all of the tire even if you got to go to a smaller width tire.

Not sure if you saw this or not, but I read that the M/T tires are spec'd for 9.0" - 11.0" rims where as the Hossiers are spec'd for 8.0" - 10.0" rims, so that's how M/T might have came up with the 10.5" spec, due to the wider rim range.

Re: Are these tires the same size ?
They are the same overall width at 11.7" but MT sizes it as a 10.5" maybe for some classes that use a 10.5 tire.
