I have a chev truck with a 383 stroker and i havnt dropped anything in the truck yet because i havnt decided if i even want to keep it an automatic or not. but the main issue i have is its my daily driver. So would a 700R4 be able to handle the torque of the engine better than my TH? Im still not quite sure if i have a 350 or 400 there is no number on the transmission that i can find. I would love to have that overdrive of the 700R4 but if it cant take it then im back to square one.i have both the 700R4 and TH350/400 sitting in my garage right now so getting ahold of either is no issue.

Depends on the hp of the engine, and the build level of the 700. I upgraded the sunshell and the frictions and steels on a 700, and it is at least as reliable as a t350, IMO. I replaced the t350 in my s10 blazer v8 streeter with the 700r, fot the overdrive possibilities you mentioned, and I won't be going back...

Like said above as long as its upgraded you will be fine Ive installed plenty of 700r4s behind engines with a lot more power than what your building and they are fine. Its also very important to get the proper TV cable, brackets, and carb hardware.
