Leaf springs ?

getting ready to put a set of caltracs on 78 Z/28 camaro, Which is better single or multi leaf springs? Bars are for multi leaf, Can I take springs apart and use main spring? I'd like to get rid of the extra weight!!!!! Any tips? :scratch: Also what does the split leaf springs do? Thanks for any HELP you guru's on HERE rock! I can redo shock mount for springs.

The main leaf from a multi spring wont be strong enough to hold the car up, a set of mono springs are designed with the correct spring rate to give you the ride height you want.

Calvert Split mono's are the way to go if you've got them $ for them. If you don't, the old multi's can go faster than ya think, one of our members has been high 1.20's with stock multi's, nothing but good shocks and cal-tracs. But, the stock multi's are indeed heavier and may not last as long as the Calverts either. Calvert's are thicker up front by the eye.
