Rear end Carrier

#1 Post by Ryan » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:57 am

I am going to be building a 12 bolt for my 69 Nova and I was wondering if anybody is running something other than a spool? I wondered if a locker of some sort works very good on the track, I am planning on driving this car on the street from time to time and don't want the head aches of having a spool, but I didn't know if the lockers would hold up to 800 hp. Let me know what you guys have had the best luck with.

Thanks Ryan

if you are putting 800hp to it have you thought of a differnt rear then a 12 bolt
dana 60 or a good 9" ford

I have contiplated going with a 9" but I haven't been able to talk myself into putting FoMoCo parts in a Chevy. I will give Moser a call Monday and see what they recommend.

Thanks Ryan

I'm running a Detroit Locker. Its been in there for years and has been bullet proof so far.

My Nova has a Ford 9" in it. What's wrong with that? A Ford 9" is one of the most durable rear ends you could possibly use.

Nothing wrong with that but a 12 bolt is lighter, and a 10 bolt is even lighter yet. I've got a 9.5" in mine, which is coming out soon and going back to 9" r & p.

There is nothing wrong with the 9", I am just a very anti blue oval person. If I go that route I would probably go with a FAB 9 housing.
