I have a 67 camaro 477bb round tube backhalf with stock frt end. It has a barry grant 400 pump and reg. Set at 28psi rear and 8psi frt. When the car wheelstand over a foot it stalls and drops like a rock. Can anyone help thanks.

It could possibly be the mounting position of the pump in relation to the outlet on the tank. The bg400 pump has very little suction and relies on gravity feed from the tank.

the pump is mounted right by the cell and I have -12 coming out of cell to pump and -10 from pump to reg and -8 to carb. Thanks

I assume you think that it is dropping pressure, have you been able to confirm this via a dash mounted gauge or logger? I would not be surprised to see a momentary drop in psi at launch, but that shouldn't affect a carb that much since there is fuel in the bowl. Is this a nitrous launch or just carb only? Do you have rear jet extensions and the rear powervalve blocked off?

In addition to what has already be suggested, it could possibly be a fuel slosh issue. If the front float is high, it might be sloshing fuel from the bowl vent down the venturis.

Thanks guys I think we found the problem. It not fuel related. The trans drip stick was no right. giving us false readings. So the trans was low on fluid and when the car would leave all the fluid would go to the back of the pan which uncover the pickup and make the front end drop like a rock. We found the problem by watching the tape of the car over and over. It was hard to tell but you could hear the rpms staying up when the car was coming down. So we started checking other things and thats what we found. Thanks again for your input.

Great catch. That certainly would be hard to find! Just goes to show what data can give you. The more the better.
