Rubber on quarter panels

#1 Post by vegaracer » Wed Apr 30, 2008 11:14 am

What is the best stuff I can get at the local parts place to either keep the rubber from building up on the quarters or that will remove it easily?

You spray it on before making a run?

I usually wait a season and then use it to remove what's built up lol. Yeah, you could put some on before going to the track, it'll make it come off easier too. Wax would also help I suppose. They do make something called Geddex Burnout Guard http://www.jegs.com/i/Geddex/432/506/10002/-1 that is made for that but I've never tried it.

The Geddex stuff works Ive used it.If you sray regular Armor All on a cloth and wipe the 1/4 a few times the rubber wont stick.

Wax the car with a good carnuba wax and then just before you race rub vasoline on the area where the rubber usually builds up,at the end of the race just wipe off what accumulates. not too much will stick to the vasoline make sure you apply it thick it may look like hell but makes the clean-up a breeze. Just keep plenty of soft rags handy like old tee shirts because its pretty messy and you will have to dispose of them after clean-up 8-)

I was at an event where the husband and wife had really nice show cars. When they went to drag race, they pulled out magnets, the kind you see on doors for advertisment. These were cut to the shape of the rear quarter panels and were even painted the same colors as their cars.
You hardly noticed they were there.
When they were done they just pulled them off and the car was clean
Gotta plan, spend it before she can, and go as fast as you can.

Tried WD-40 this weekend and it worked good, so I'm gonna keep using it. Thanks for the suggestions.
