Race mufflers

#1 Post by gmracing355 » Sun Jul 27, 2008 11:38 pm

I was wondering what kind of mufflers everyone is using on thier cars. Right now I have 2 chamber 3 inch flowmasters run to the front of the rear but my friend says they are slowing the car down. I dont want to run open headers but he told me to run the dynomax race mufflers. These are what he recommed.

I'm not a muffler expert but you can uncap it and see if the car goes faster. If it does go faster then it might be that the mufflers are wrong ( too restictive ) or the exhaust it too small. If it doesn't pick up, what you have might be ok or too big.

4" race bullets here, but they are kinda loud wot.
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

What cu. inch engine and at what RPM are you running it.

If you have 1 1/2 headers, area is 1.75" per pipe X 4 (pipes per side) = 7" area of possible air flow.

One 3" pipe = 7" of area air flow

Just the math.

Not all headed pipes are pushing air at the same time as well. Just somethiong to think about
Gotta plan, spend it before she can, and go as fast as you can.

3" race bullets here. I went from 3" 2 chamber flowmasters with pipes turned down behind the axles. Definitely a lot louder, and I have not seen much improvement in ET, which surprised the hell out of me. But then again, I haven't ran in any good air really this year, so not really comparing apples to apples.

Ran the Dynomax 3" bullets bolted to the header it takes the "snap" out of open headers at idle but not much difference wide open. Never ran without them so I have no et comparison.

4" bullets. No loss of power and lite weight in comparison to the flowmasters.

1 7/8 tubes, single chamber flowmasters, 3 1/2 aluminized pipes just behind frontseats with turn downs.
