Hello, I'm John. I'm married with two kids. I've been enjoying the pleasures of owning a classic car for 9 years. My car has always been a street/strip car. I'm pretty proud of what I have done with little to no money to invest. The car started as a 15+ second 1/4 car to a much quicker 12.80 1/4 car. With 3.73 gears, 3500 stall and lots of fine tuning, a full steel bodied camaro with a 1976 350 4 bolt truck motor (still have the 76cc smog heads) can have a lot of fun. This year the motor is going to get a small shot of nitrous, an updated fuel system and caltracs traction bars. That should push me in to the high 11's, but my real goal is to carry the front wheel for a few feet. It might not happen with this combo, but I've always been able to squeeze more out of less.
Also, I believe that this hobby should be a family thing, as you can see my oldest has started off on the right foot. It starts off using the right tools, and attention to detail. Thank you guys, I'm looking forward to talking with you in the future.

John

Hey guys

My name is Adam Wright (20yrs old) and I am new on this Forum, and might i say John that it is a excellent forum. It is the most informative Forum that i have ever seen. I have learned a ton in just the couple of weeks from the Forum. Keep up the good work :D .

Anyways I have a 79 Camaro Z28 with a Big Block Chevy. My Grandpa and I just got it going at the end of last year. I have had it at the track 6 times and I have turned a best of 10.98@121mph. I still have lots of tunning left but thats the name of the game. I have completed a Automotive Tech Course and now attending College to recieve a degree in Engineering.

I was wanting to set-up a video recorder in my drag car, and i was just wondering what the best way to go about it. I have a mini-DV camcorder that is a Canon ZR100. Maybe you guys could tell me what you are using and how you are setting them up? Thanks

Adam

Here are some pics of my car :D

Hey,

My best 60foot is on that 10.98 pass and it was a 1.48. I am now working on getting alot more front-end travel because it only has 2inches (ewww!!!). I called calvert racing and he said that i need a min. of 5 in. But the main reason i even checked the travel was because when my front wheels come back to the ground after a launch i am breaking loose and fish taleing in the back end. So i call john calvert and he is the one that told me to check the front travel. So i am hoping with all of this front-end travel, the front wheels i am hoping will come up even more, but i am not sure. I just have to figure out a way to bring the back-end down now that i just got the front down ALOT. I have adjustable shackles in the back and they are in the bottom hole which means that i have ALot of adjustment left. I am running a 29.0/12.0/15 tire right now and i am wanting to change to a 28.0/10.5/15 like that makos boys because a TRUE 10.5 will tuck in my finder better and allow me to drop back end more(without tubing). But i am not sure that i can hook on a TRUE 10.5?(ANY THOUGHTS?) But I am hoping that I can hook with just a TRUE 10.5. Any Comments?

Thanks
Adam

Hi Adam, great numbers on the Camaro! Good to hear you and your Grandpa are working together on the car. The increased front end travel will probably work a lot better for you. As far as the 28x 10.5 tire hooking, the potential is absolutely there, you may need to make some adjustments but there is no doubt you can go very fast on that tire.

On the video, I have a few articles that might help in our tech section http://www.dragstuff.com/techarticles/video.html Catch me at the track and I'll let you borrow my camera mount if you want to try it out.

John,

That is a excellent article. I really like this mount that you have pictured in the article. I went to the CFM website to get a price check on it but i could not find it. It looks like a very good mount for mini DV's and i like how it has a C-shaped clamp. but anyways let me know about the price from CFM and i will probably buy one from them. Talk to ya later

Hi everyone,

My name is Clint I live in Philly where the drag racing street scene has been active and huge for as long as I can remember. I am married to Michele and have 3 great kids who are mostly all grown.

I recently purchased the website that my screenname bears and I also bought this beauty to go with it.

To my wonderful surprise I am now installing a new th200r4 purple power transmission and new converter to handle the 500hp/ 500 psi combo.

Haven't had a chance to test the 305 with 350 heads bored .30 over....

Also has nitrous but that's a whole other story for me to get into, things got enough power without the juice I thought :D

Can't wait to get to the track!!!
