New best went 9.40!!! Video
Went Saturday, only got two runs.
1st pass left so hard (shocked me) I blew the 1-2 shift, and it came down so hard it knocked the blower pipe loose at the hat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyVb9P2LMFU
2nd pass I tightened up the front shocks to calm it down, added 3 clicks.
Now I think it's to stiff???

Time slips at the end of each vid.

Congrats on the 9.40
Re: New best went 9.40!!! Video
Thanks John and vegaracer
Then when I did finally shift, I really blew-it, and used the clutch![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
On the second pass, maybe clutch got a lil lose? I'll compare the data logs, but I think the tires just spun more. Looks like way more tire spin when i reply the vid on a larger better screen.
I think your right about the 1st launch is better
, I'm going to loosen up the front shocks like I had them.
I wonder if a high 1.2 , 60 foot is possible? My 1-2 shift is before the 60' timers. So hitting the rev-limiter in 1st, and using the clutch to shift, had to hurt my 60 foot some? And still went 1.33!
---Bill.
OBTW the DA was 2814' in the 9.40 run, that's pretty good for around here, and under just 2000' in the first pass.

Ya Jim, I have a lot to learn/remember, I did actually forget to shift. I've never had to shift while the wheels were still up. It was always launch, touch-down, shift, in that order. I need to change that to launch, shift, then touch down. That's how you do it right?clutchdude wrote:it looks like you have to learn how to shift it now huh...lol

Re: New best went 9.40!!! Video
What i was taught was...when in doubt...short shift it. As for the second run it could have been tire spin? I could not hear the shift very well thats why i thought it was clutch?
What did you do to up the power? Pulley or meth kit? All i know is that its fast for a street car
And you might be able to get it into the 1.2 range..i have gone 1.301 but i am lighter also.
Jim
p.s. my 60's are always better when i short shift and it comes down much softer also

Thanks guys.
I did add the Meth kit, cut my intake air temps in half, so I added more timing.
Also the better DA helped.
I'm glad you said that about short shifting 1-2, that makes sense! But I've never heard anyone say it.
---Bill.
Jim, same pully for now, I have a smaller one I'll try someday. Blower belt was slipping a little before above 6200rpm, a new belt running a lil tighter added 3 lbs boost in the upper rpm's.clutchdude wrote:What did you do to up the power? Pulley or meth kit?

Nice pass
.You may have slept at the light but you still got there before the other guy. Are you running a ribbed belt? Cant you get a gilmer style so no slippage?

Re: New best went 9.40!!! Video
Well i can get away with short shifting a non adjustable setup. The problem your going to have is with a centrifugal assisted setup is that they are rpm sensitive....if you set it up for 7k shifts and you shift it at 6K you will get alot more slippage at the gear change...likewise if you shift it at 8k it will slip alot less than expected.
Go to the data logging section and look at the graph section...look at stickshifter55's graph, he said his normal shift rpm is 7500, look at the clutch slippage on each of his shifts...its a very good example of shifting at different rpm from what clutch is setup for.
