It's not taken personally. Just business........... The invitation is still there at a MAKO race meeting when the day comes. We play by set of rules which has been worked over to attempt to level the playing field for the combinations allowed and it looks like your car will fit nicely when you're done. I'll be bringin' the mouse to the rat fight. Maybe we'll find out it's more than just about absolute power.supernova wrote:Don't take it personal Guy's I'm just venting.

Re: BB vs. SB
i run a small block because i cant afford a bbc. If I could i wouldnt run a bbc smaller than a 496.
Ive still gotta give props to the modified street guys. There have been some 5 teens this year with a small block and 1 plate. And thats with stock suspension and 3000 pounds. crazy...

It's Just Not That Simple
Watch the dragsters. A good running small block car will accelerate faster than a big block, initially, because of the lighter weight.
But once all the mass of a good running big block car is moving, that big, deep breathing air pump pushes the ground away from the tires like very few small blocks can.
There are a lot of variables to consider. Cost, weight, the graviational attrction of large objects relative to smaller objects and just how much BS you're willing to read.
Bottom line: Your money - Your choice. Make yourself happy and let everyone else worry about themselves.
Save all your energy for really important issues, like NSO vs Turbo, or Ford vs Chevy vs Yugo, or whatever.

Yeah bob there making 500ci lsx type motors. I have seen a billit block 522sbc also, it had sbx heads and sheetmetal intake and made 1300 hp.

Mike Peters wrote:Your logic escapes me. Maybe you'd be surprised if the NHRA invoked the #'s per cubic inch rule again. Is that not fair? Of course it makes no sense not to run the biggest engine possible if there are no rules regarding weight. If the weight of the car becomes a factor per rules designed to level the playing field then, you're going to see different combinations. BTW, tell Andy Jensen or Kevin Fiscus they can't get it done with a small block in an unlimited class.Hitchcock wrote: But in the end, Supernova is right. The faster you want to go, the bigger your stick has to be. If this was not true, pro stock would run small blocks, there is no rule that says they cant run little motors. Just a limit of 500 cu in.
I'm not saying it cant be fast without a big motor, just saying the guys who want to go the fastest generally run a big motor.

Re: BB vs. SB
Small blocks arent at any disavantage to a bb in my opinion. I run a baby small block thats pretty quick for what it is. Im working towards building what I would call a "real" motor. When I get that done I dont see why competing with anybodys combo would be a problem. I know of several very fast small block cars.
Re: BB vs. SB
It's an age old debate, but you can go fast with anything. I like the guys that say "IF you want to go fast it has to have a ford, or chevy, or mopar" What a bunch of douche bags!

Re: BB vs. SB
There's a reason small blocks get a weight break.
