Re: Ed aka 1320 racer - Ban or no ban?
You know, I have to comment here.
The fact of building or not building your own stuff is really immaterial. It's the attitude you bring with you to the forum here or to the track. The fact that you want to go racing and enjoy the fellowship of other people like you is what makes you a quality racer, not how fast you are or how much you know. Racing is racing, and as long as you're honestly enjoying yourself and sharing that with other folks is what qualifies you in my book.
I feel sorry for somebody like Ed, because he only enjoys this stuff when he thinks everybody is looking at him and looking up to him. Thats a pretty sad state of affairs. When the light shifts away, he has to attack whoever he thinks is competing for the center of the stage. With him, this is not about not racing, it's about something else entirely.
Me, I build a lot my own stuff, but not everything. I've always loved creating things and then sharing those things with other people, doesn't matter if it's software, architecture designs or blown big block chebbies. It's just damn cool to build stuff and get involved with other folks doing the same thing. I'm not even all that competitive on the track, that's not my center. Being able to bring something into being that can scare me is just too fricking awesome.
I'll get off the soapbox, but I wanted to share that from my point of view it's not what you build or don't build yourself, it's what you bring to the table in terms of attitude and fellowship that counts. You can be competitive, but you also have to be a peer to those around you, otherwise you turn into an Ed and folks won't have a lot of use for you.
Ok, end of sermon.![:smt003](./images/smilies/003.gif)

I would lean towards the shovel and/or boots thing...Hitchcock wrote:wikd69 wrote:See above...wikd69 wrote:And then there are guys like me who get by on sheer brilliance and stunning good looks.

Just kidding, and you made several very good points. I love racing and all it requires.

He's back at Yellow Bullet and up to his old ways again
Re: Ed aka 1320 racer - Ban or no ban?
Yeah, I watched the traffic on YellowBullet for a while and decided it wasn't to my taste - the 'kill or be killed' atmosphere there doesn't appeal to me. It may fit Ed's style tho.

Harry, if you decide to visit YB again, you might be better off skipping the "Trashed or Be Trashed" forum. As mentioned, there's some excellent tech discussions in the other sections and info sharing is a little more civil.wikd69 wrote:Yeah, I watched the traffic on YellowBullet for a while and decided it wasn't to my taste - the 'kill or be killed' atmosphere there doesn't appeal to me.
