This was tragic, may he rest in peace.

I can't believe that track has a wall at the end, that is what got him, the engine blowing up didn't do it, it was the wall at the end of the track.

I send the video on you tube.

RIP Scott - Godspeed

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in one pretty, well preserved package, but to blow thru the top end
sideways, thoroughly used up, worn out, leaking oil, smelling of racing gas
and burned rubber, yelling WHAT A RIDE !!!"

nhra has strict requirements from the starting line to the finish. there should be a minimum safety standard that all tracks must meet to safely contain a 300 mph car .
most tracks were built in the 1960 s era of 200 mph plus cars. granted, they have the new carbon fiber brake components, and they can shut down in a heart beat......but thats when things are normal.
that wall at the end of the track was sticking out like a sore thumb. i hate to say this....but......nhra should take some notes from nascar. i am not a nascar car fan, but their focus on track safety is second to none.

my thoughts and prayers are with the kalitta family.

In looking at the Video, it looked like his shut, did not open all the way(what caused that I don't know).

How about this idea, make the sand trap go up hill :thumb: , the sand traps on the roads are designed to go up hill, they will stop a 80,000 lbs run away Semi truck and trailer, the reason they go up hill is the vehicle is forced down into the sand all the time as speed and gravity will push you into it, all the time, because it goes up hill. To many times at the drag strip you see cars just skip across the sand, like a stone on water or like when you see a car or dirt bike travel across vast amounts of water, it doesn't work properly when flat.

Make the sand trap go up hill so racers don't have to go upstairs

Just my opinion.
Gotta plan, spend it before she can, and go as fast as you can.
