BB vs. SB
Man I am so sick of the war between SB and BB guy's! You sb guy's need to get over it!
Now as I see it every racer has a choice of what engine they run. If you think about it it's the age old, same old story, of sb vs. bb thing. GET OVER IT. You made the choice live with it or change it.
The rule is "If you want to go faster build a bigger motor and put more nitrous in it"

Re: BB vs. SB
But what about small blocks that are bigger than some big blocks?

Sheesh, now you tell me. I guess I'm screwed especially since I'm putting the small block in a big ol' heavy '70 Chevelle with all kinds of really heavy 25.5 cage. Anyone want to buy a nice "327"?supernova wrote: The rule is "If you want to go faster build a bigger motor and put more nitrous in it"

Re: BB vs. SB
Im a big block guy, but I wouldnt mind a sb w/ turbos to make up the displacement.

BTW, I see you're located in Forth Worth. Any plans to come join the fun at a MAKO event in the future Hope you can make it. As a small block owner. I was thinking maybe you could help me "get over it" when I get my car done and make me see the error of my ways. http://www.makotenfive.comsupernova wrote:Man I am so sick of the war between SB and BB guy's! Don't take it personal Guy's I'm just venting.
One of the local guy's started popping off about how unfair it was about with the rule for the class I run and pissed me off.
I ran a small block for years until I built my first big block and that was all it took!
Nothing wrong with a sb you can just make more power with a bb.

Re: BB vs. SB
Everyone has heard there is no replacement for displacement. This is true for both bb and sb. If you have the money to build a 454 or 468 small block you probably have the advantage over a 454 468 bb. Less weight, same displacement. I have seen some really fast small blocks. But guy's like me who want BIG power on pump gas and a shoe srting budget...Well, a 496 was my cure all. Wish I could afford a dart block to build a 555, or a 572. Not yet but some day!!! One of my dads buddies calls my 496 a trash truck motor. He is a small block guy til the end. And my 496 will probably never outrun him But that dosent change the fact that I love to go as fast as I can!!
But in the end, Supernova is right. The faster you want to go, the bigger your stick has to be. If this was not true, pro stock would run small blocks, there is no rule that says they cant run little motors. Just a limit of 500 cu in.

Re: BB vs. SB
Your logic escapes me. Maybe you'd be surprised if the NHRA invoked the #'s per cubic inch rule again. Is that not fair? Of course it makes no sense not to run the biggest engine possible if there are no rules regarding weight. If the weight of the car becomes a factor per rules designed to level the playing field then, you're going to see different combinations. BTW, tell Andy Jensen or Kevin Fiscus they can't get it done with a small block in an unlimited class.Hitchcock wrote: But in the end, Supernova is right.
