Style Points Question

#1 Post by John_Heard » Sat May 02, 2009 9:53 am

Thought I'd get some input from you guys...

Getting ready to paint the firewall here soon, it'll be the color of the car. But I'm undecided what color to paint the radiator support. I've seen em' both ways, car color or satin OEM black. Not sure which way to go? This is something that tends to get scratched up easy while working on the car, the satin black would be easier to touch up but might not look as good as the car color.

Thoughts???

I like the entire car to be black so that any touch-ups, anywhere on the car, are just a rattle can away

I'd go black on the core support. It'll disappear behind the grill better and be easier to keep looking nice.

I agree on the through the radiator view, black is best there however I've got my grill blocked off so that doesn't really matter much. I'm leaning towards the black... Added voting we'll see what the popular opinion is haha

Did you find any gains from block off the grill?

Not that I noticed really. The end plan was to use the block off setup as a ram air inlet going to the carb that went over the radiator, but I haven't got around to that yet.

Go for the black core support. Unless you paint the rest of under the hood stuff the same (like the frame; a-arms; steering componants; ect.ect.) It just won't look right. Besides the black makes everything else look good!

Id go blue if the firewalls body color it would look best having the core suport body color too in my opinion. Thats how my car is and I dont really have any chiping scratching problems from working on the car at the track.

We build a lot of street rods and customs so its either body color for everything or black under the hood for everything. Just my .02
