bad track day for me

#1 Post by chpcamaro » Fri Jul 03, 2009 2:44 am

ok here's the story i went to the track tonight to test out my car after getting the motor put back together well it's making alot more power with a few changes like advancing the cam for one and fix my throttle cable. now for the first pass the car luached good got a good 60ft so that i am happy with and also i did a big burnout lol after the 60ft mark the car felt like i hit oil so i backed out and then got back on it and it did it again and did that all over again got down the track so that was a throw away run i was thinking of calling it a night after hearing that 2 days ago they scraped the track clean but everyone said that they sprayed the track and they prepped it so i figured ok i'll give it another try and if it holds the track this time i am going to use the bottle nexted pass i really want to see what it will do on the bottle. so i do my burnout a nice big burnout again (maybe this was my problem lol) so i pull up to set the light i stage and launch as i pass the christmas tree the car starts to lift the front wheels from what someone told me that was behind me i could tell you if it did or not then it fell (we are only talking 1 or 2 inches under the tires) as i crossed the 60ft mark again it must of lost traction again at the same spot because the rpms jumped up and as soon as it did that it shifted into second which is were the fun began straight into the wall i go well i was able to pull it some what straight but still hit the wall just hit it side ways shot off that wall and headed to the other side this timing going straight for it again got it straighten out and saved it so no damage to that side i kill the power stop the car the Emergency Vehical pulls up and they ask are you hurt i said only in my walet lol he laughed said you sure i said yes my walet is going to hurt. then he said why don't you step out of the car well as i am going to step out one of the camera guys said hang on as he took pictures then i got out now i was not even going to look at the car again asked me if i hurt any where besides my walet i said no i am fine he asked where my pit is i pointed at it so he said do you want to drive the car back to it i said sure so hop in it and drove it back which i figured wasn't going to happen but i figure it must not be to bad if he said do you wanna drive it back lol so as i drive it back i want to see if i bent the frame or messed anything up but the car went perfectly straight i was wow maybe it's not to bad remember i have even looked at the car so i get to my pit and everyone is there i get out and look at the car the front end is pushed way over but as i look closer it was just the fiber glass the front wheel is chewed up around the edges but not to bad tho.
i look at the door and no damage the rear quarter got messed up right above the tire so at this point i am feeling pretty good now i will have to wait till saturday and see if there is any serious damage but at this point like i said i think i am going to be lucky. so my night sucked oh i am ok i didn't even feel it hit the wall.

Damn, that is to bad. Sorry about the bad luck. I hope you and the car and your wallet all make a speedy recovery. Good thing you were not spraying it.

Man, Thats a hit.
Well your not hurt and thats out of the way. Get it together and go racing. :thumb: I hate getting this kind of stuff out of the way. I'm not looking foreward to the first trip to the track with my car. I may have to make a few passes in front of my house to get it out of the way. Just in case, and since there is only 4 homes on my street i think I can get away with it.

Chris, here's what ya do:

First run, when you get green, just make a immediate left turn into the wall and get it over with, the go back to the pits and hammer out all the sheet metal and then go racing !!!!!!!!

Sorry about the misfortune Rob. Just remember...cars can be replaced or fixed, your life can't. Glad you are ok and the car doesn't appear to be hurt too bad.
