Anyone heard of RaceStar Hood Pins?

#1 Post by John_Heard » Tue Mar 21, 2006 9:08 am

I was over at my brother in laws last night checking out his IMCA modified and it's got these neat looking aluminum hood pin scuff plates on it. They're a lot thicker than normal and were engraved "RaceStar" on them. I'd like to get some of those but haven't been able to find them.

Normally scuff plates tend to bend a little where the pin goes through over time, these are a lot thicker and just look trick so I was trying to get some somewhere. They were on the car when he got it so wasn't sure where they came from. Anyone know where to get these?

try doing some searches on google for roundy round stuff, and fab parts etc, you will be amazed at what you can find.

all my stuff is held on with zeus fasteners

Done searched and made some calls, no luck. I don't like zeus for the hood myself, takes a long time to get the hood off if you're in a hurry.

I didn't like those thin scuff plates either. Get stainless fender washers and polish them, don't forget to use stainless screws our you'll get rust.

Good idea, I'm still on the hunt for some race stars LOL, maybe someday I'll run across some or get around to making something similar.

John, are you and your brother-in-law not on speaking terms? Ha ha. Maybe the pins were on there when he bought the car? Would the Afco aluminum hood pin kit fulfill your quest? Also comes in blue which might look pretty dang snazzy on that bad boy Nova of yours.

Nah, we get along fine. I just don't think he'd appreciate me taking his scuff plates off his modified LOL. There were on it when he bought it from another guy, but even the chassis shop (Dirtworks) that built the car doesn't have any idea where they came from. I'll take a look at the AFCO's maybe those are similar, thanks for the tip.

Do the plates have a captive push pull pin built in?

Nope, just regular old hood pins. The only difference is the plates are thicker than normal and made out of aluminum.
