Bluebaugh Racing’s Team Magna Fuel Heads for SCSN on the Las Vegas Strip
By Deborah-WFO

Bluebaugh Racing’s team Magna Fuel is headed to the Street Car Super Nationals (SCSN) at the Las Vegas Strip after a brief reprieve in racing for repairs and upgrades. Crew Chief Deborah Woodard said we will have to make quick strides with our tune up in order to contend. We plan to concentrate on stepping up just a bit in Las Vegas. The team has been sitting in the 6.40’s range, however has not really utilized the potential of the new 784 cubic inch Nitrous engine obtained for the Magna Fuel Monte Carlo late last summer. Bluebaugh, also an engine builder, has changed some of the configuration in the engine for a power advantage with the help of Fulton Competition. LSM Systems Engineering created a special cam shaft design and JE Pistons supplied new custom pistons for the project. The team will still look to a strategy of consistency in the process and work on refining the racing program for the Magna Fuel Monte Carlo.

The SCSN competition list boasts many ET’s in the 6.20’s and 6.30’s range for the Pro Street Class. Woodard expects this will be more of an average ET range for this event. Speculation is that the bump will drop considerably this year for the 32 car Pro Street field. Woodard said we would like to qualify in the middle of the field somewhere in the top half. Mid pack has proven a very good position for us in making rounds. This past year we have run straight into the finals all from mid field qualifying positions. It’s been our experience that the fastest car does not always win. It’s really the most consistent car. If we can accomplish fast and consistent, we will be in good shape. With so many great teams in attendance, we will also need some luck on our side. We will definitely be rollin’ the dice for good Vegas fortune.

Team Magna Fuel will have special guest Chris Patrick from Automated Racing Technologies in for the SCSN event. Patrick is a fellow Pro Nitrous racer and inventor of the TFC-5 automated race car management system. Patrick will be running a special demonstration of his system at the SCSN event from Bluebaugh’s pit. Woodard said, we will also be fortunate to have our title sponsor Magna Fuel with us along with Mickey Thompson Tires and JE Pistons at the track.

The SCSN is the big event we look forward to each year said Bluebaugh. We believe our West Coast competitors are better positioned this year to give the East a run for the money. We are just glad to make it this year. The team will have T-Shirts for sale at the SCSN event to help offset costs.

Bluebaugh Racing would like to thank Magna Fuel for being our title sponsor this year. Magna Fuel is slated to continue with the team in 2010. We want to give special appreciation to our media sponsor Speed Scene Racing for giving the team and all sponsors great media coverage. Thanks to Mickey Thompson Tires we are going to be able to put all the power to the ground with our new engine. Thanks to JE Pistons who put together a new set of custom pistons for the SCSN event. Special thanks to Friction Unlimited for supplying the team with awesome clutch discs. Thanks to Highway 69 Racing Products for being a sponsor and joining our crew. Make sure to stop by our pit for cool give ways from our friend and sponsor W.W. Williams. Thanks to Fast Forward in Phoenix for our awesome headers. Special thanks to our friend and consultant Charles Carpenter Racing for continuing support over the years. Thanks to Fulton Competition for help with our engine project.
