Out with the old...

#1 Post by Hitchcock » Sat Feb 13, 2010 5:23 pm

The old motor is on its way out of our posession forever. Old faithful which we dubbed it is going between the fenders of a 41 willy's. Dad built this motor several years ago and, it has served as a spare mule motor for myself, my brothers and a friend of the famlies in a 64 chevelle. Kinda sad to see it go as it has been such a good piece of iron, but it is going to make way for the 496 that was born mid last year. And with this transplant is the beginnig of the makeover for my precious.

sometimes they are damn good old motors, hate to see em go, my old motor is 9yrs old, has been in 3 differnt rigs and has only been ran at the drag strip or to raise hell on the street, the stock 350 9to1 motor I have still has over 60lbs oil pressure and the last pass went 12.38, it now is my wifes motor going in a s10 truck for her. I have more in my new heads then I have in this whole long block

All of my bling is still just lying around. I'm hoping in about two to three weeks we should start showing some good pictures of real progress. And luckily for me Tigwelder is camera happy when doing his builds!

Hey Ap.
It's a 59 short step side that my best friend owns. When he bought it as a basket case that need a frame off so since he had no knowlage of resteration. I helped him out!!!!!
It has a narrowed Ford 9" with a 4 link. A mustang II front end kit with rack and pinion. Four wheel disc brakes. 18 " wide tires under the back like a pro street set up. A 468 ci. bbc that has about 500 hp. and a turbo 400 with 3.73 gears in the rear. It's a street driven toy that turns lots of heads and runs quite well. It took about 2 1/2 years to build. I did all the chassis, rear end, motor, and trans work, he did all the paint, body, interior work. It win just about every car show he takes it to. The only thing bad is I can't get him to take it to the drag strip. :smt003 I think he afraid to hurt it or wreck it. :smt005

I have lots of pics. I'll post some when I get home from work today.

Do you know how much weight came out of that truck when you switched over to a mustang two front end?

Brass ain't cheap. Especially at the local hardware store. I've found Mcmaster is actually pretty reasonable. I sweat Copper manifolds at work. I need to plumb my garage this year.
