Finally....

#1 Post by Bruce69Camaro » Tue May 11, 2010 7:38 am

After a long time waiting I finally took a trip down to S&W and thanks to my good friend's John and Don, here's what they sent home with me.

Also want to thank my good buddy, Keith (K-Star Automotive) for bringing me over and installing a new windshield in my car.

I think these guys are trying to tell me to get my butt to the track

Thanks again guys....I really appreciate it :thumb:

Sure you can have a new project, especially if your paying for it.... :thumb: :thumb:

Again, thanks to you and John for all your help with this car.

Hope to see you guys, soon. Save me a parking spot and some food, hot off the grill.

As for the honeydo list, that nevers goes away, you assured me of that.....

I have always found us racers to be a different class of folks. We all like to see eachother succeed...competitor or not. I have a friend that paid a couple of my entries last year when I was down on my luck, classy guy. Now that I have landed my Software developer job, I'll tkae care of a few of his :-)

Not to burst your bubble...but I'm pretty sure you have to have steel valve stems. I think the et break is 11.50/12.00 and under or something like that.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I got home and bolted them on and man do they fill the tubs up.

Got plenty of room on the top and sides, but got one concern and that's with the lower, front of the quarter.

I got about 1-1/2" of clearance and need to see about getting a little more.

I'll have to check on the valvestem rule, thanks Spaz, didn't even think of that?

What's left, not much. A kit for the tranny, belts and a helmet. I'd also feel a lot safer getting the front end
aligned.

Keith would like to take a trip to the chassis dyno to get some base numbers so that may come first.

Mr. SuperNova, you can borrow them anytime, but are you going to be able to spin them??? lmao2: lmao2:

(You know I just had to make a smart comment....)

As soon as the weather breaks I'll get some pictures of it with the new meats.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if you were aware of this, but the guy in the first response, Hookdaddy, is my "Good" friend from S&W Racecars. I'm sure if you need something, he'd be more then happy to sell you guys something.....
(Don, if this happens, I want in on the commision....Oh wait, I got my free t-shirt when I was down, I'm good :thumb: )

Thanks again,

Bruce

Don't you need two of those to make things work properly? :smt003

I had bought the screw type stems and the guy mounting my slicks talked me out of them and put rubber ones in...then I stumbled upon that rule. So I broke them down(one side) and put the hard ones in.

I NEED TWO....NO ONE TOLD ME I NEED TWO....

Maybe that's why the cars doesn't sit right.

I just thought of this, why would I need steel valve stems if I'm not running tubes in my slicks?

I understand that with a tube it could spin and cut the valve stem but how if the slick is tubeless, why would I need a steel valve stem?

Greg - what sort of software dev are you into ? I'm currently playing with JavaScript, HTML, PHP & whatnot, but did a lot of development with Cobol, C, Basic, Fortran as well as a number of vendor specific languages over the years. I've been doing architecture work, virtualization & SAN design for a long time now, having gotten away from mainstream software design. I'd like to go back to cutting code tho, life was a lot simpler back then lol...
