I know that there are a few threads on here about DR's...BUT the reason I'm starting this one is hat there have been some big players come into the drag radial scene in the last year or two that aren't discussed in those threads (MT / Goodyear) and so I thought I'd pick everyone's brain.
I have a set of Hoosier Drag radials...and they wore VERY fast and because they have only the cheater slick grooves in them, they are even scarier in any form of rain. And we all know how easy it is with pop-up storms to get caught. SO, with that said. I want to get a set that has normal tread on hem like he Comp TA DR's.
I've ran the Comp TA DR's before and liked them alot...I can always go back to old faithfuls but wanted to get some opinions.

I got cought out in the rain one time with et street tire and will never get cought again!!!!!!
I would say go with what you know works for you. I mean if you have used a tire you like keep using it.
Personaly I'll leave the hot rod in the shop if there is a hint of rain.

In my opinion, any drag radial that's going to be very good at the track isn't going to handle rain well at all. I know there have been some fast passes on BFGs and even Nittos, but those cars would be even faster on a better drag radial or slick. So you're left with a compromise if you want to account for getting caught in a rain shower.

Good points guys...and I try my best to not get caught in the rain but it did happen last year and when I hydroplaned off the road thank god it was into a parking lot....and it only takes one time to ruin a shiny little paint job! :)

I have had two differnt dot slicks, bf goodrich comp radials and hoosier quick time pros, the quick time pros are by far way better

We have been fighting my car this year, but last year our best 60 foot was a 1.41 on the hoosier drag radials. I haven't had problems with them wearing out fast though. I ran the same set for a season and a half. By the end of last year they were really going away. They wouldn't soften up for the life of me. I have never tried the goodyears or the mickeys, but i think i will give the goodyears a whirl next year.

I went the the MT Sportsman Pro route for the street, running 29.5 x 18.5. These MT Pros are a really soft D1 wrinkle wall compound and they do a good job on the street, but on the track I could only get so much hook out of them, even after heating the snot out of them. I went ahead and bought a second set of rims and a set of Hoosier slicks for the track. I don't juice it as much on the street as I used to, now that I'm set up pretty well for the track. I did have this goober out in the rain once, just before loading up for the Fontana trip back in May. I needed to do a shakedown run on the damn thing to check the suspension out and it was raining like hell. Not a lot of fun, especially since I don't have windshield wipers LOL...
