I'm sure you’ve all heard about Gateway ceasing operations and for all those Midwest racers looking for an NHRA track to run for Wally's, qualify for Division 3 Bracket Finals, do some Test-n-Tuning, or run brackets; Coles County Dragway USA (CCD) is under new ownership and working hard towards making many improvements for the 2011 Season.

From the time you pull off old route 316 (W State Rd) until you enter the water box you will see many improvements and changes. Look for new signage to better identify our entrance and ensure racers know they are heading in the right direction. We are proud to announce we’ve partnered with Track Services Inc (TSI) and will have our timing system completely serviced, updated and certified. While onsite they’ll also be installing our new Ultra Bright LED “Dial-In Boards” thus ensuring Dial-In’s are correct before “Pre Staging”. This is our first step in modernizing CCD with hopefully many more to come. They’ll also be diagnosing the public address system and lighting problems with recommendation on how we can best utilize existing equipment and whether it’s adequate. We want to ensure not only is your racing experience at CCD, whether in the pits, staging or in the stands an enjoyable one that can be heard and seen.

Not quite inked yet, but it looks like the Title sponsor for the Friday night Street Racing Series is once again the US Army. Look for many opportunities to meet with some of our Nations Hero’s as they stop in from time to time and maybe even bring some of their toys (Tanks, Armored Personnel Carriers (APC), Humvee’s…) This should be fun for all and this series is dedicated to Street Cars only running regular DOT tires (No Slicks are allowed).

We also have 5 Diesel Truck races scheduled. All indication lead toward this series being sponsored by Diesel Speed Repair in Mattoon, IL and Dales Diesel Service (DDS) in Teutopolis, IL. This series pits some of the fastest Diesel Trucks in the Midwest and cumulates with a “Pinks” style “Arm drop” final Champions Race on Sept 23. The first race is set for May 20th.

The regular Bracket program starts on Apr 17th and Track/Indy points start on May 1st. Weekly racing includes Super Pro (S/P), Pro (PRO), Sportsmen (SPT) and Novice Street (NS). We also have Jr' most weekends, a Bike specific class a couple times a month, Powder Puff & High School & Street Radial once a month. Of course the highly competitive Q8 series is back with JT Muffler again as one of our associate sponsors for this 5 event series throughout the year.

There are also a number of specialty events throughout the year. These include; Big Money Brackets twice a year, Hopper Family Memorial Day Classis, King of the Track, Thunder on the Prairie, Terry Luechtefeld Memorial Race, Bonus $$ Brackets, JEGS Quick 32, Holzhauer Midwest Jr’s Super Series, National Dragster Challenge, and King of the College Race. See our 2011 Track Schedule at www.colescountydragwayusa.com which will be posted soon.

New this year, we will host a “FREE” Racers Appreciation Race on 8 Oct. This event is a double entry race and is open to anyone, but you must have participated in our regular ET Series at least 20 times throughout the year before 7 Oct to get a free entry. This race will guarantee’s $1200 to first in Box and $800 to No-Box. See our website for more specific race rules.

Our website will be updated NLT 28 Jan, so please look for more information at our website: www.colescountydragwayusa.com.

Special thanks to PAAP Printing (Charleston, IL), Cedar City Motors (Mattoon, IL), Billingsley BP (Decatur,IL) and JT Muffler (Mattoon, IL) for helping us get started.
